Martin Kerndler
Assistant professor (non-tenure track)
I studied Mathematics at TU Wien before starting my PhD in Economics at the Vienna Graduate School of Economics, which I completed in January 2019. Meeting the requirements for a promotio sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae — the highest possible distinction for academic achievements in Austria — I received my degree in July 2021.
In October 2017, I joined the research unit Economics at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods at TU Wien as university assistant. In February 2019, my position was upgraded to an assistant professorship (non-tenure track).
I received the Young Economist Award both at the NOeG Annual Meeting 2018 and at the NOeG Annual Meeting 2019.

My paper Occupational safety in a frictional labor market is now available online at Labour Economics, the official journal of the European Association of Labour Economists.
The new working paper A life-cycle model of risk-taking on the job (joint with Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz and Miguel Sánchez-Romero) has been accepted for presentation at the ESPE, EALE and NOeG meetings.

My sub auspiciis promotion in July 2021 received media coverage by ORF, Kurier, and the Heureka magazine.
